Motorcycle Insurance

Motorcycle insurance. We don't like to think about it, but you can't ride without it. In certain states, you can't buy a new motorcycle without insurance.

SHOP AROUND

The more you shop around, the better your chances of getting a better rate. There a tons of insurance companies to pick from. I would start by asking your auto and home agent if they carry motorcycle insurance. If they don't offer it, try asking your friend or neighbor with the new Fat Bob what company they use. Another good place is riders forums. Make a list and call as many companies as you can.

You'll need to have some answers ready for the agents or reps.
Here's little heads up on some of the questions they will ask.

THE BIKE

Just like car insurance, a brand new bike is going to cost you more to insure.

PERSONAL LIABILITIES

Just like car insurance, your driving record and your age are factors. If you're younger or even if your older but are new to motorcycle riding, you'll probably have a higher rate. You can sometimes get a better rate on motorcycle insurance if you take DMV motorcycle classes.

WHERE YOU LIVE

If you live or work in a high crime or high accident area, you
could pay more. They may ask if you keep the bike in a garage or other secure area. A bike that is in an unsecured area is obviously a higher risk.

HOW MUCH DO YOU RIDE

If you live in an area where the riding season is shorter, make sure you tell the insurance agent. If you live up north like me,your mileage will be lower and your rate should be less than someone who can ride all year.

Lets look at types of coverage.

FULL COVERAGE

This will cover you and your property in an accident, whether it was your fault, someone else, or "no-fault". Full coverage extends to your passengers.

3RD PARTY LIABILITY

This covers other people and their property if the accident is your fault. Your insurance company pays for the damage to the other party's' property instead of you. It doesn't cover damage to your property. Most states require at least liability insurance on your motorcycle.

Scooter Insurance - Getting the Cheap Rate Quote

Like the motorcycle the scooter has a long history as being a cheap way of having transportation. Even though the scooter has changed its design many times over the last 100 years it is basically the same as from the beginning. The idea for the scooter was to offer someone a economical way to travel while still having some level of comfort.

The scooter as we know it today can be attributed to the Vespa which was a scooter that was designed in Italy and became very popular all over the world in the 20th century. From the far east to Europe the scooter is know as the ideal means for transportation because it is cheap and east to park on narrow streets.

Yamaha and Honda also became big payers with the scooter in the late 20th century because the saw the demand that existed when we had our last gas crisis. They have cut into the American market greatly and account for a big percentage of the sales.

It is most important that when you purchase a new scooter that you look for the right kind of insurance that fits your needs. There is cheap insurance but it may not give you the coverage that you need. Make sure that the insurance that you get covers you in the event that you get into an accident and need someone to act on your behalf quickly.

Remember to look for an insurance that fits your needs and gives you the coverage so that in case anything happens you safe.

What puts most people off is the hassle factor in first finding a new motorcycle insurer and then comparing pros and cons of policies. This can be a time consuming and a little frustrating activity. No one in their right mind enjoys looking for new insurance policies as it's a cost we are legally obliged to pay and we are generally hoping we will not have occasion to use our policy.

Luckily the web has made things a lot simpler with a number of specialist motorcycle insurance comparison sights springing up where you should easily be able to compare policies in a fraction of the time it used to take.
